When buyer and seller are in the same state, GST is split equally into CGST (Central) and SGST (State).
When buyer and seller are in different states, only IGST (Integrated GST) is charged at the full rate.
Base Price = GST-inclusive price ÷ (1 + GST rate). For example, ₹1,180 at 18% GST: Base = 1180 / 1.18 = ₹1,000; GST = ₹180.
Businesses with annual turnover exceeding ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh for special category states) must register for GST.
